With warmer days upon us, it will soon be road trip time! There are people to see, places to explore, and adventures to experience. Is your car prepared? Car maintenance is necessary year-round, but especially before a long road trip. There is nothing worse than being stranded in the middle of nowhere while on your journey. Check out a few tips below to ensure you travel smoothly and safely to your desired destination.

Fluids
• Ensure that your engine oil has been changed recently.
• Transmission fluid is suggested to be changed every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. If it is past that point, you will want to change it out before you hit the road.
• Ensure your antifreeze is completely full in order to optimize efficiency.
• Brake fluid is extremely important to keep your brakes effective—if you are not sure when it was last changed, give us a call!
• If you are driving a long distance, you’re almost guaranteed to encounter bugs or roadway debris. Make sure your windshield wiper fluid is full and ready to be deployed.

Tires
• Ensure your tires have proper tread depth. Try the penny test to see how much of Lincoln’s head you see.
• Check your tire pressure on your main tires, make sure to check on your spare as well.

Routine Maintenance
• Staying up to date on regular vehicle maintenance will limit the number of headaches when gearing your car up for your excursion.
